The Border Collie

     The Border Collie originated on the very border of Scotland and England, hence the name, Border Collie. The breed was developed solely to aid their owners in herding livestock, in particular, sheep. In 1915, the breed was officially recognized by the International Sheep Dog Society as a breed, differentiating them from other Collie breeds. Throughout the years, Border Collies have been seen working alongside farmers, participating in many different areas of competition, breaking records, acting in films and tv shows, working as search and rescue dogs, mastering the art of goose chasing, and of course being loving and loyal companions. This high energy breed is meant to be active and/or have a job and work throughout their lives. They thrive on the will to work and please their owner.
